Indigo & shibori
Step into the indigo vat and immerse yourself in the ancient art of shibori
Service Description
INTRODUCTION After a gentle introduction over tea, you'll begin by exploring various shades of blue using an already prepared indigo vat, applying them to swatches of natural fabrics (silk, linen, cotton…) to create a mini indigo color chart. You’ll then learn the basics of shibori — a Japanese resist-dye technique using folding, tying, and binding to create beautiful patterns. Finally, you’ll apply your favorite techniques to a finished piece: either a small silk scarf (45×45 cm) or a cotton kitchen towel (70×45 cm). You’ll leave with: → your hand-dyed finished piece → a detailed workbook → your mini indigo color chart + shibori tests → and plenty of inspiration to keep going! The workshop takes place at the Alexandrie dye studio, 28 rue Ernest Renan, 22220 Tréguier. All materials are provided.
